5 Most Common Internet Marketing Fears

internet marketing fears

Which one of you are considering getting into internet marketing but are holding back because of your internet marketing fears?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

However, as, Richie Norton, once said “to escape fear, you have to go through it, not around it”. So, today, I am going to bring the most common internet marketing fears to life and help you find a solution.

Internet Marketing Fears You Might Be Facing

I speak with people everyday who want to get into internet marketing but just can’t take that first step. When I asked them why this was the case, they informed me that they were afraid for many common reasons.

Thus, in an effort to help them combat their internet marketing fears, here are some common things they were most afraid of and how to eliminate them:

1. Fear of Failure

Fear of failure is one of the biggest reason a lot of people do not take risks and become a successful internet marketer.

But so what if you fail!

Thomas Edison, failed a thousand times before he invented the light bulb. Failing in internet marketing is not fatal. I mean, you may lose some money- which is a whole other fear on its own that I will talk about- but the knowledge and experience you gain from failure can be worth more than gold. Failure is just another stepping stone to success, it’s not the end.

However, if you want to prevent failure from happening and ease your internet marketing fears then you can do a few things.

Firstly, write down specific goals before you start your internet marketing journey. These goals could include; how many leads you want to achieve, customers you want to get, increasing your brand or whatever else you desire.  Create a well thought out business plan and map out your current efforts and future goals.

2. Time and Commitment

Another fear that a lot of people face are making the time and committing. People are generally afraid that they don’t have enough time because they either have a job, have kids to care for or have another business to run.

I get it, I had the same internet marketing fears once too. In order to be successful, Internet marketing does need time and commitment but there are 24hrs in the day, 7 days in a week and 52 weeks in the year.

Prioritise your time!

The key is just to make a start by setting aside at least 2hrs in the week to work on your website, write a blog post, and engage in social media.

Therefore, my advice is that you get a calendar and organise a realistic list of things to do each day and allocate times for each task and then stick to it. You will realise how much time you actually waste in the day, eliminate your internet marketing fears, and be a lot more productive and successful.

3. No Experience and Directionless

A lot of times, I hear from people regarding their internet marketing fears that “I have no experience or direction, how could I stand a chance” of which I reply to them “that’s the beauty of Google!”.

You do not need the experience, you will get that as you go. However, direction you will need in order to get a good start. The best solution to this fear is to do your research. Follow blogs that talk about internet marketing topics you are interested in. Also follow influences in your industry, study your competition and your target market.

Another really important thing to do is invest in a quality marketing tool like Click.org. So, when you start launching different internet marketing campaigns, you can see what is working or not. Internet marketing is forever changing so it is important that you never stop learning and test new strategies.

4. Losing Money

This is one of the most prominent internet marketing fears that people have. Losing money is not easy, especially when you have a family to feed.

It’s important that you make sure that you are strategic and set realistic goals for your budget.

Furthermore, type up your budget and your current costs for customer acquisition, then see if you can either lower the amount or make it more effective by testing different internet marketing strategies. Also, do not forget to track every marketing campaign you put in place, that way you can see what is working or not and get rid of things that costing your money. Once you have done these things, your internet fears should subside.

5. Wasting Time

Finally, another common fear that internet marketers have is that they will be wasting time.

Yes, going down the road of internet marketing can be a waste of time if you spend hours and hours doing the wrong things.

However, there’s a simple way to overcome this fear. First of all, filter out all distractions and use a tracking & analytics tool to understand where your customers are finding you and work on those areas.

Don’t waste your time on campaigns that are not working. If they are coming from social media, then spend more time there, if they are coming from paid traffic, spend more time there and so on. Find out what is working and focus on that.

In Conclusion

I hope that I have helped you ease a few of your internet marketing fears and that you dive straight in. Remember, do not let your fears conquer you.

Take a risk!

This may end up being the best thing you ever do. 🙂

You’re welcome, Tom. If you put my words into action then I have no doubt that you will see improvements.

Also, I had a look at your website and would like to give you a quick tip. Give your visitors a taste of what you have to offer or the content that you’re going to be providing them with before you try to get their email. Remember that your visitors are human. It comes across as too aggressive and a bit suspicious when you request information before giving them anything. Give before you ask.

      Best of luck! 🙂
